Exercises
At ThePhysiotherapyDOC we LOVE to help people who are bettering themselves or training regularly for an event or team. Injuries can occur for lots of reasons, whether it being due to an intensive bout of training, or a niggle that happened during training or a game. This can result in a dip in performance, maybe you’re not getting the times that you are wanting, or you are struggling to keep up with others in the team?
We know how difficult it is to even get an appointment at the doctors, never mind seeing a Physio, and when you do, all you get given is painkillers and the odd exercise.
We are not a fan of people having to ‘survive’ on painkillers to get through the day, it puts you on to a road to nowhere and eventually ends in people having a significantly poorer level of quality of life. We are a HUGE believer in hands on treatment and we tailor our sessions to be mainly hands on because thats what we are experts at, exercises and stretches can be done in your own time, when you’re with us, we get straight to work on easing your pain.
When injuries occur, we know it’s very easy to just take some paracetamol and get through the day, or even just ignore it and hope it will just get better, go away, or be sorted by rest or a good night’s sleep.
Sadly, this is never the case, 1 of the things we find ourselves saying to patients all the time is how we still haven’t worked out the reason as to why we don’t get help straight away for our pain. If the car makes a grinding noise, its booked in the garage that day. Your phone screen flickers…. hello repair shop, but when our body aches, creaks, cracks and pops with pain, what do we do? “Ahhh it’ll be ok”. The body is the most important thing of all that we need to look after, and we don’t.
Pain happens for a reason, it’s our body’s way of alerting us to an issue that needs looking at, don’t ignore it, get it looked at, 1000’s of people who have given us the chance to help them have all said how they can’t believe how bad they were, and wonder how they got through the day at work, or survived on so little sleep because the pain they were in was taking over their life.
Attention
We will go above and beyond to get you in for an appointment, but due to high Physio demand in the NHS our appointments are in HIGH demand and go fast.
Current NHS waiting lists for Physiotherapy are at around 6700 patients, to put that into context, if 20 NHS physios see 10 patients a day, that’s 200 appointments a day, 1000 appointments a week over 5 days
Thats nearly 7 weeks wait for only 1 appointment (and we all know that it’s going to be double the time).
Does this sound like you?
Trust us, we have seen and heard everything, some of the common things people say to us include:
- I just thought the pain would go away after a while, but it's still there.
- I went to the Doctor and all he gave me was some tablets, I was then told to rest, and he has referred me for Physio, but there’s a 2-month waiting list.
- There’s no point even trying to get a doctor's appointment, they don’t even pick up the phone.
- I felt it stiffen up, so I rested for a few days, and it went, but as soon as I did something it came back.
